Approaching Shasta Springs from the North (East on the SP), the first thing you see is the bottling plant

Stop and Sample the mineral water, or ride the cable car to the resort at the top of the hill

The Southern (West) approach was just a few miles from the Dunsmuir Station.   There was only one siding in the climb from Dunsmuir out of the Sacramento Canyon up to Mt. Shasta City.
